Weekend Support Worker - Full UK drivers license holder

  • Location: Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
  • Salary: £12 per hour plus benefits
  • Hours: Upto 16 hours per week, Saturday and Sunday on a shift rota basis.
  • Shift Patterns: 7.00 am – 3.00 pm, 8.00 am – 4.00 pm, 1:00 pm – 9.00 pm,  2:00 pm – 10:00 pm
  • Employment Type:  Part time, Permanent
You must hold a full UK manual driving licence to apply for this role

We are on the lookout for Support Workers who are calm, patient, and resilient. You will need to be able to have a consistent approach to assisting the people we support who have high complex physical health needs and to engage in their interests. 

As a support worker, you will be part of an experienced staff team working within a busy and vibrant service where no two days are the same.

Support worker duties include:

  • Daily activities such as personal care, hoisting, cooking meals, basic cleaning tasks, medication administration (after completing relevant training), food shopping with the people we support etc.
  • Providing support for offsite activities such as going to the gym, bowling, historic gardens and any other interests and appointments.
  • Going away on staycation and holiday abroad with the people we support, helping them to live their best life!
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the people you will take care of.
  • Helping the people you will assist plan towards and achieve both short and long term aims. 
  • Ensuring the people, you will assist and their families, are treated with respect, dignity, and equality.
  • To work in accordance with SeeAbility’s values.

We are looking for someone who can devote up to 18 hours on weekends and are willing to work on a shift rota basis, covering mornings and evenings.

You will work closely with the registered manager, deputy manager and your seniors to ensure that we are delivering the best person-centred care, ensuring outstanding delivery of support in line with our vision; inclusive communities where people with dementia, autism, and learning disabilities, brain injury and physical disabilities participate as equal citizens.

As a support worker your day-to-day management will come from an experienced, passionate leader who will work alongside you. This will assist you with your own leadership and interactions that will in turn enable people to move forward in their lives creating community connections, friends, hobbies, interests, and work. Being passionate, creative and values led will really help you in achieving the small and bigger goals and outcomes that we all see as part of a safe, happy, healthy and empowering life.

Who will you be supporting?

At Waterside House we support 14 individuals with various disabilities including: visual impairment, autism, physical disabilities, mental health and learning disabilities. Here are some of their interests and hobbies: 

John*: Is a music lover and has his own radio show that can be accessed by tuning in via the internet. Loves talking about music and take song requests and talk about local weather. Loves talking and making people happy around him. 
 
Jan*: Is an avid Wycombe Wanderers football fan. Attends all their home matches and loves playing Ukulele even though he is visually impaired. He was a member of Salvation Army and played in their band. 
 
Jane*: Is a lover of Reiki, art and animals. Loves a man in uniform and loves a pamper day. Her extreme interest is her love for the music band- Coldplay and knows all the lyrics by heart. 
 
Joe*: Is a social butterfly and hates being on her own. Has vast knowledge of various music and artists and can tell you from which 'NOW' music album the song and the artist is from and not to forget the whole lyrics of the song! She calls her electric  wheelchair Katy Perry and every item in her life is named related to music. 
 
Josh*: Is Mr. Independent! Volunteered in West Wycombe as a tour guide and is a history enthusiast. He loves socialising and loves swimming as well. 
 
Jake*: Is the most people person at our home. Loves volunteering as buddy at the local hospital. He is gym buff and larger than life character. He breaths positivity within the home. He loves taking part in the interview panel. He was even invited to Buckingham Palace to represent SeeAbility! 
 
Jon*: One of the most independent electric wheelchair user. Loves going to cinema, meeting friends and families at café. Nothing is impossible for him, as on his bucket list he had sky diving and with our teams support he managed to achieve that goal!

Training and Development
