About The Role

At Heather House we support the needs of 16 young residents with visual impairment, complex needs
All our residents enjoy, value and benefit from time spent with Befriender volunteers. Your visit might be on a "one to one" basis where you might chat, share a DVD, music or story or you may be with a group of residents and staff sharing activities such as music, arts and crafts, cookery, manicures etc. We also have volunteer interaction boxes, which are for the volunteers to use when they volunteer. These boxes are full of useful materials such has- nail painting, quizzes, story books, games, arts and crafts with a sheet full of ideas to help you to interact more with our residents. We welcome volunteer to visit during the week, in the evening and at the weekends. Commitment can be weekly, fortnightly or whatever fits best for you, most volunteers come in for one or two hours per week.

This role may also see you supporting residents to local activities such as the garden Centre, shops, library or café.

About You:
We are looking for someone who enjoys being with people, who is patient, caring and enjoys talking. Training will be given is wheelchair, sighted guiding and safeguarding.
