Catering and Nutrition Assistant - Derby Lodge

Location: Leatherhead, KT22 8ET

Salary: Up to £10.30 per hour.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week.

Employment type: Full-time, Permanent.

The people we support

Derby Lodge is a lively residential home for adults with a range of complex needs. All individuals predominantly have varying levels of learning disabilities and a visual impairment. We provide support for additional needs, including wheelchair users from various physical disabilities, epilepsy, diabetes, heart issues, mental health problems, dual sensory loss, kidney disease and management of cancer.

About you

You will be looking for full-time hours, 37.5 per week, and be passionate about food and cleanliness, with the creativity to develop healthy, nutritious and well balanced menus. 

As the Housekeeper you'll be responsible for the provision of a consistently high standard of meal provision and housekeeping chores, ensuring a  good standard of hygiene throughout the service including safety and operational checks pertinent to the role. You'll work with the people we support, their families and their support team to provide varied food choices based on their preferences, needs and cultural and dietary requirements and help them by completing domestic and household tasks, encouraging participation, if wished and with due consideration to managed risk taking. Sometimes it might be challenging but it's always rewarding! No two days are ever the same and you'll join a supportive team and a great organisation that will ensure you have all the relevant training and opportunities to develop.

You'll be an experienced cook with proven experience of planning, preparing and purchasing healthy and nutritious meals inline with any dietary requirements and set budgets. You'll posses excellent organisation skills with an approachable, can do attitude. You should have a current Food Hygiene certificate or be willing to undertake and have a good understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH and Food Hygiene regulations. Experience of providing housekeeping services and working with people with learning difficulties is also beneficial.
