Hi, my name is Joshua and I live in my own home in Folkestone, Kent supported by SeeAbility.

Experience supporting people like me, a man with autism, would be essential.  I am looking for a calm, patient and positive Deputy Manager (preferably female) to join my team. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more and more skilled and confident.

Whilst I need a quiet and happy environment in my home, I enjoy visiting castles and swimming, so I’d love it if you liked these things too.

I also like Harry Potter and Disney Pixar!

I’d love for people to join my team who have the same interests as me so they would need to be physically fit, and 100% reliable. I have autism and sometimes my behaviour can be challenging but that shouldn’t stop me doing the things I love and leading an active life.

Sometimes I’ll need your encouragement to learn life skills and gain independence but that’s something everyone needs at times; as long as you are gentle, can see the value in small gains, will follow coaching from my behaviour support person and are willing to help when needed we will get along just fine!

Ideally you need to be able to drive and you must be willing to work as a team with me and my family. If you think this is for you, please apply.

The role

You will assist the service manager to ensure that Joshua receives high quality support.

You will be delegated management tasks and given off-rota time to manage this.  Some of the delegated tasks will include rota management, 121s, training new staff, and leading the team to complete support plans, risk assessments and all the rest of the activity to enable Joshua to achieve outcomes. You will be expected to manage the team in the absence of the service manager.

Working in partnership with Joshua, his family and our specialist support teams you’ll champion skillful interactions, person-centred planning and partnership working to plan and implement professionally designed support plans that genuinely improve the quality of everyday life.

Acting as a role model and mentor to the team you’ll facilitate the use of collaborative working, sound judgment and creative solutions to enable both them and Joshua to achieve individual goals and develop. You will manage staff performance, training and appraisals ensuring the team are equipped and motivated to deliver the best support possible.

So apart from transforming lives what’s in it for you? You’ll benefit from working with a team of passionate and skilled specialists, an outstanding induction and training programme with on-going development and the option to gain formal qualifications as well as the opportunity to progress your career in a sector that genuinely offers careers for life. In addition, we also offer a range of benefits including flexible working options, long service and recognition awards, including increasing annual leave and bonus incentives and company pension and life assurance schemes.
