By joining SeeAbility you will be able to help the people we support live an extraordinary life.

Not only will this role allow you to help people with their daily living needs, this role affords the opportunity to help make a difference in their personal lives & emotional care.

You will be the face of Speech and Language Therapy across the organisation. To be effective in the role you will have excellent relationship building and networking skills. You will support the referral process that aims to provide therapy, training and advice to staff to enhance the quality of life for people with people with multiple disabilities and sight loss. Working closely with your NHS counterparts, you will ensure continuity of care, build long term relationships, be able to recognise changes in presentation and proactively seek appropriate referral avenues for further assessment.

Clinical areas of involvement include the management of communication difficulties within the context of learning disabilities, physical and sensory needs, autism and behaviour that challenges. This includes: total communication approaches, AAC, functional language and implementing and monitoring communication assessment recommendations.

You will be responsible for ensuring eating and drinking difficulties (dysphagia) are being monitored and supported following assessment recommendations. You will be responsible for ensuring that current guidelines are being implemented consistently and accurately.

You will have the knowledge and skills to identify a clinical need for further SALT assessment and be able to communicate these needs clearly to others.

You will support managers making referrals into NHS SALT/GP services and may be required to refer into these services yourself. You will be confident advocating for individuals we support to access these services in a timely manner.

Within your team you will have one other speech and language therapist who you will line manage so good leadership skills are a must. You will guide them and advise them on how to find the best solution within the resources available.

You will create and maintain great working relationships with NHS services to ensure the people we support are getting the right interventions. Positivity and passion for making a difference are a must!

You will work closely with colleagues in our homes and the NHS to get extraordinary outcomes for the people we support. To achieve this you won’t be afraid to roll your sleeves up and work alongside clinical teams and our support teams. You will offer advice and support and become a critical friend to our homes.
