Dispensing Optician (Term time only)

Salary: £16,800 per annum 

Hours:  22.5 per week (term time only)

Location: London (South London area)
 

We are looking for a  dispensing optician  to provide an excellent spectacle dispensing service and ongoing support to children in SeeAbility special schools eye care service.  Providing expert advice internally and externally on spectacle dispensing services for people with learning disabilities.

To provide the NHS England Special Schools Eye Care Service with a SeeAbility optometrist partner in special schools providing eye care and leading on providing a pro-active, optimal spectacle dispensing and support service, taking on your own case load of children who require glasses.

You will be required to work in a number of special schools and colleges, mainly in the south London area. Full training will be given as part of the national special schools programme.

Every child receives a spare pair of glasses and all dispensing is invoiced directly by the glazing house to NHS England, so all your responsibilities will be clinical.

You will need:
 
•       Qualified dispensing optician and member of ABDO (Association of British Dispensing Opticians)
•       GOC Registrant
•       Satisfactory enhanced DBS check
•       3+ years experience as qualified  DO
•       Hospital and specialist dispensing experience, including with children with disabilities
•       Extensive knowledge of paediatric frames, including those for children with special facial characteristics
