Job Role
Female Support Worker (supported living)
Location: Folkestone, Kent
Salary: £9.34 per hour and benefits
Details: Full or part, permanent, excellent training

Hi, my name is Joshua and I'm currently living in my own home in Folkestone, Kent and I am supported by SeeAbility.

Experience supporting people like me, a man with autism, would be essential.  I am looking for a female who is calm, patient and a positive support worker to join my team. You need to support me to lead the life I want and to encourage me to be gradually more and more skilled and confident.

We are looking for drivers so you must hold a valid driving licence and have a willingness to drive a vehicle.

Whilst I need a quiet and happy environment in my home, I enjoy visiting castles and swimming so I’d love it if you liked these things too.

I also like Harry Potter and Disney Pixar!

I’d love for people to join my team who have the same interests as me so they would need to be physically fit, and 100% reliable. I have autism and sometimes my behaviour can be challenging but that shouldn’t stop me doing the things I love and leading an active life.

Sometimes I’ll need your encouragement to learn life skills and gain independence but that’s something everyone needs at times; as long as you are gentle, can see the value in small gains, will follow coaching from my behaviour support person and are willing to help when needed we will get along just fine!

The shift pattern is 14.30 – 22.00 with a sleep in from 22.00 – 07.00 paid at around £35 per night (check rates), following on to a 07.00 – 14.30 shift. There are also 10.00 – 17.30 shifts to allow 2-1 time for Joshua to get out in the community. Working days are flexible across all days including weekends, 37.5 hours per week, over 5 days. Training is provided, and time provided for this is paid. Any training completed outside of usual working hours is paid at 1.2 % of usual pay, as is any other overtime above your usual 37.5 contracted hours, unless on a weekend when it is paid at 1.3 % currently.
